How to choose the best floor for you!

The choice of flooring depends not only on how you live but also on traffic patterns and family habits; which causes wear and tear in different areas of your home. For example, you would not want to put carpeting by a sliding door that your family frequently walks in/out of your home.

Carpet is the most popular as it is less expensive; however, it is recommended to be professionally cleaned every 18 months and may need to be replaced sooner than other flooring options due to wear and tear. The living room is where you see the most wear in carpet as that’s where people spend the most time. Most people prefer carpet in bedrooms as it gives a warm, soft feeling on your bare feet.

Hardwood is considered more upscale adding a natural and elegant look to a rooms’ décor. Hardwood can last for decades with the proper maintenance and care. You can also refinish the floor to change the look or repair damages.

Luxury Vinyl Planks are 100% waterproof and durable. Vinyl has come a long way from sheet vinyl as there are options ranging from an authentic wood look to stone. Vinyl planks are a family favorite as it’s the most resilient to pets and kids, while requiring less maintenance.

Laminate is another option if you want something that looks like wood, without being real wood. Laminate has the same visuals as wood, but is far more scratch resistant. It also offers an easier install than tile or wood.

Tile comes in many options from glass, ceramic, porcelain and natural stone. The most popular use of tile is in entry ways, kitchens, backsplashes and bathrooms. There is no concern about moisture and is the most durable of all flooring.
